To us hospitality means to create a space for diversity, acceptance, inspiration and a self responsible way of living and exchanging. Times of silence and self-reflection are as important as times in company of others and meeting new people. We are living in a respectful and considerate inter-connectedness with all beings and nature and wish that it is contagious in the best sense.
Infrastructure
Terra Selvatica is more than anything else a lot of nature, stillness and width. On 33 hectares of land woods, olive grove and a vineyard alternate with hills, valleys, vegetable garden and wilderness.
Our land is not only a place where we work and produce but mostly land where you feel the innate beauty and diversity of nature. In walking the land you will be close to the elements, will feel the wind and sun on your skin, smell the earth, watch birds and butterflies, listen to the humming of bees, rest in the shadow of an old tree and immerse yourself in the magic of Terra Selvatica. Automatically the machinery of your thoughts will stop and you experience pure being. The “I am”.
The agriturismo and retreat center consist of three buildings. In the main house our guest rooms are located and it is the heart of our property. It has the following amenities:
- six renovated guest rooms (3 double rooms and 3 twin-bedded rooms)
- common guest kitchen with 2 refrigerators, 2 stoves
- living room with open fire place
- big dining room with open fire place
- seminar room
- gastro kitchen
- big terrace with the shade of wisterias
- barbeque and pizza oven
- different smaller terraces and sitting places
In the other two buildings our team resides. On the south side of the buildings the pool is situated, where you can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets and the overview of the Tiber Valley.
Self-supply
With the cultivations on our farm we pursue a self sufficiency concerning vegetables, fruits and herbs (and eggs from our beloved chicken…). We respect the cycles of nature and life and produce in a pure and more than “in an organic label approved” way. For us the most important is a healthy, living soil, which we accomplish with the production of Terra Preta, applying EM active micro-organisms, Bokashi fermentation and dung.
We call our work in the garden and on the land “conscious farming” because our interaction and our state of being is affecting the soil, the earth, the plants and us. It is continuous awareness and devotion. While we put our hands in the earth, trim trees, plant, dig, harvest, produce char coal or gather snails we feel the connection with the Greater All. Sense how all beings are interconnected and in continuous exchange with one another. Each of our movements, our thoughts, our sensations impact the All, the whole. We feel the magic behind all things. And thank life and the gifts of nature. Gratitude.
Our production covers mostly our needs for vegetables, fruits and herbs. Dairy, cereals, flower and other groceries we buy from local farmers or our beloved “organic lady”.
